SOURCING AND MAKING

We source our raw materials from Malai. They work alongside Southern India’s coconut farmers and processing units to convert coconut agricultural waste into vegan & home compostable material in turn making it 100% biodegradable.

In this process they rescue about 4000 litres coconut water per day, which otherwise would be released into the drainage system causing pollution of water and the soil to become acidified. The material is available in range of colours which are achieved through the addition of natural dyes. These are exclusively plant based dyes derived from a patented cold batch dyeing method.

CARE OF NATURAL COCONUT LEATHER MADE BAGS

• We use a very user-friendly coconut leather material
• Because of its entirely natural composition it is sensitive to humidity, much like paper or leather
• To ensure it remains at its best we suggest applying a thin layer of beeswax (either a clear shoe polish or a furniture grade beeswax) or coconut oil to the surface to ensure it remains moisturised
• This is especially advisable during hot, dry weather or after cleaning
• Don’t panic if you spill something on your Bag/Wallet or if it becomes dirty because it can be wiped clean with a damp cloth and then left to air-dry (although it won’t survive a trip through the washing machine)
• We advise against drying with intense heat or ironing it as this may cause damage
• When it has dried, applying beeswax will help restore it to its original condition
• Tough by nature and designed to remain in good condition from 4-8 years, if properly cared for
